What do you need to get started on post sound? First we'd like to see a copy of your offline so we can come up with a budget based on a given number of hours that will be required to do the work for each phase of your project. Then, we'll need your final offline (or online) on 3/4" video with address track timecode. Beta, VHS, or DV are also fine formats to bring in; obviously, timecode is highly recommended on all formats. This is the picture master we use for all our work. Finally, we need a CD, DVD, Superdisk, or harddrive containing your OMF files OR your dialogue tapes and the EDL that goes with them, if applicable. Usually it is best to bring in elements either on the original 1/4" tape, or on a digital medium like timecode DAT or DA88. The best way to do dialogue editing is from 1/4" timecode NAGRA and a NAGRA cut list supplied by AVID, Final Cut, or other editing systems, although timecode DAT is the industry standard. Command Post aligns the azimuth of our timecode DAT recorder prior to each conform session to precisely match the DAT machine your dialogue was recorded on.
